August, 2009. ACCA brings five financial experts round the table to ask how CFOs in Asia can keep cash flowing during the downturn
Asia Now Quotes and excerpts from the interview: "This is a time of opportunity: it is important not to let concerns about risk obscure the fact that in many sectors, there'll be significant changes in the leading companies as a result of this crisis.
The CFO has a key role to play in this changing ENVIRONMENT. Although it’s important to keep your hand on your wallet, and address risk, cost, working capital etc It’s also CRITICAL to have an eye to the future. To understand that customer intimacy is not just about getting paid, it’s about identifying and retaining those customers who are critical to future growth. It’s about finding new customers, it’s about proactively seeking opportunities to grow through acquisition.
The CFO has a key role to play in ensuring that strategic opportunities for growth are identified and captured: a key danger is that you become overwhelmed by the “risk stuff” and have no time for that strategic stuff, which actually is the more important."
